Today, the Ministry of Defence is expanding Europe’s largest military exercise, known as ‘Joint Warrior’, into the Moray Firth, home to our adopt a dolphin dolphins and their families.

Please write to your MP or MSP and the Minister of Defence to let them know that this is not acceptable.

The exercise will use new generation powerful sonar, which is a very loud noise source. Dolphins are extremely vulnerable to noise and we are seriously concerned about the impact this could have on them.

The recent deaths of 26 common dolphins in Cornwall following a military exercise illustrate how serious an issue this is – we cannot let it happen again.

Joint Warrior involves up to 20 warships, 4 submarines and 40 aircraft from 9 countries and will be operating in the Moray Firth between Tuesday 13th and Thursday 15th October.

We are not suggesting that the MoD should not conduct exercises, but that it should fully consider its environmental responsibilities first and fully, and act accordingly.

We must act to protect the amazing dolphins of the Moray Firth. Please take a few moments to write to your MP or MSP and the Minister of Defence.

We have provided a template email letter to make it easy for you.
